It is important to do your research properly to avoid disappointments. Botswana’s tourism policy is such that high income, low volume tourism is maintained. This is good as tourism can be over exploited to the point it kills the goose that lays the golden egg. So be sure you are getting what you want and expect of your African safari experience, there are a lot of choices out there these days and it’s intimidating to even start to know where to begin.
Find a tour operator or travel agent in your area that is familiar with safaris in Africa, it is essential they have visited and experienced what they are selling to you, and are up to date with local African conditions and situations.
Permanent camps and lodges have a great knowledge of their areas and so maximize the wildlife experience for their guests. The downside of permanent safari operations is that when wildlife migrates away, they cannot move with them. Having said that, there are numerous resident species all year round. Mobile safaris have the advantage of being able to move their ‘mobile’ camp to areas where wildlife concentrations are at their best.
We are ideally located for safari operations all year round to take advantage of the best of seasonal wildlife migrations and concentrations – both dry winter and wet summer seasons. We offer a number of options and these are determined by the changing seasons, and wildlife behaviour, dependant on water and preferred grazing areas. |
