DRY SEASON
Months: July August September Climate: Dry winter (from freezing at night to warm in the day). Best wildlife opportunities: Meno A Kwena waterholes, Boteti Riverbed seeps and waterholes. Nxai Pan when artificially pumped water is provided for wildlife. Best scenic opportunities: Baines Baobabs and the saltpans accessible during the dry season. Best cultural opportunities: Meno A Kwena and canoeing the Boteti River when water levels are high upstream.
WET SEASON
Months: December January February March. Climate: Wet summer (from cool day long drizzle to hot humid localised tropical thunder storms) Best wildlife opportunities: Nxai Pan grasslands and pans, CKGR short grasslands, Makgadikgadi Saltpans when accessible. Best scenic opportunities: Baines Baobabs and as above when and where accessible. Best cultural opportunities: Meno A Kwena.
MARGINAL SEASON
Months: April May June / October November Climate: Mild to hot, dry or wet. Best wildlife opportunities: The saltpans and CKGR if waterholes still holding rainwater, otherwise the Boteti Riverbed and Nxai Pan waterhole. Best scenic opportunities: Baines Baobabs and the saltpans if dry and accessible. Best cultural opportunities: Meno A Kwena, Boteti during October November depending on flood levels.
